About Us

Hi, my name is Elaine but most people call me Lainey! I am the owner of Laineys Hair Shed.

I’m originally from the UK and started my working career at the age of 14. I gathered a wealth of industry experience before I even started my apprenticeship in hair dressing, by the time I had finished my training I was confident and a very capable hairdresser. Living so close to London I had access to some of the best training academies in the world continually updating my skills and learning new techniques. I’m a strong believer that you can never stop learning or upskilling yourself no matter how advanced you are.

Since moving to Melbourne in 2009 I have been based in the Southbank region and consider myself to be a local. One of the things I enjoy about this area is there is a high demand for hair upstyling which is one of my passions and key strengths, of course along with Cuts and Colours!

Over the years I have worked in both Large and Small salons, from my observations I feel my best work is achieved in smaller spaces, it’s much more personal and I can be one on one with my clients. In the larger salons I found one person would wash your hair, someone separate would colour, they would have an apprentice blow drying and another would take your bill. I’ve always liked the personal approach, I can give my upmost attention to detail, I get to see my work all the way through and make sure I achieve the best possible result.
